Hearing Protection
Many of the tasks we complete on a daily basis at Carol Lake Metal Works involve machines or processes that emit high sound levels.
When working in these types of environments, at the start of a task it is imperative that an adequate hazard assessment be completed and controls implemented to prevent an accident or injury. The control for high noise environments is hearing protection in the form of ear plugs or muffs.
During arc air gouging or grinding, or other activities that emit sound levels greater than 85 dB, hearing protection is mandatory.
Some of the tools available to assess these hazards are:
- Take5
- JHA – Job hazard analysis
- Risk Assessments
Please take the time to utilize the appropriate hearing protection required by your job to ensure every job we do is completed safely.
